Procrastination is an art for some people, but the truth is it can be a very bad habit to slip into, causing stress for yourself and others around you. Let’s chat about ways to end procrastination habits in your life today – NOT tomorrow.

Deadlines are a good thing.

When thinking about goals you want to reach, give yourself a deadline for completion. Without a timeline, you could go on forever without actually making progress.

Eat that elephant.

Remember the old adage, “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.” Try breaking up your larger goals into smaller more manageable tasks. That’s the best way to build momentum quickly!

Reward yourself.

Set up a reward system to congratulate yourself on your progress. Whether a fun activity with friends, or a treat for yourself, make it something that acknowledges your progress and effort.

Surround yourself with accountability.

Recruit friends to help you stick to your goals. Arrange a time to check-in regularly and talk through ways in which they can help. Help them understand what kind of encouragement you need when the going gets tough. (Do you need to be reminded how far you’ve come or do you need someone to give you some straight talk?)

Sometimes it’s okay to be impulsive.

If you suddenly have the urge to get moving on that project, Act. On. It. Don’t think about it so long that the feeling passes.

Picture the future you want.

Imagine the emotions you will feel.  Visualize yourself in a favorite place celebrating what you’ve accomplished. Imagine those who love you most celebrating your success.

Forgive yourself.

You’re bound to have a setback or two, but that doesn’t define you. Get back on that horse and work harder to keep chipping away at achieving your dreams today!

In this fast-faced, always changing, revolving world… it is easy to get caught up in life and all of the things that are constantly happening around us.  In the midst of all the craziness, it is important to keep a positive attitude and reduce stress in your life.  Living a stress-free life has many great benefits to your health.  Here are some tips to help you stress less:

  • Accept the things that you cannot control, and don’t dwell on them. There are a lot of things that occur every day in our lives.  Most of which, we cannot control.  When things like this happen, instead of getting bent out of shape and stressing out… try to stay calm.  If you can’t control it, make sure you don’t let it control you.
  • Relax when possible! With the revolving world we described earlier, it is hard to take time out for yourself and breathe.  However, it is important to do it!  So, whether that means partaking in yoga, exercise classes, or reading a good book… make sure you take time for yourself.
  • Eat healthy. We talk about the benefits that eating healthy has on your overall health, but did you know that it also reduced stress?  It does.  So the next time you are debating on McDonald’s or a healthy homecooked meal… choose the latter option.

Stress is a major factor in a lot of our lives.  There isn’t a great way to completely remove stress from our lives, but it’s absolutely achievable to reduce the amount of stress we carry.

This week we stood with girls all over the world for International Day of the Girl.  As Thrive Women’s Clinic strives to empower women – and inform, educate, and assist them with their health – this past Wednesday was a good day.  At Thrive, we love this international day, but we honor all women each and every day of the year.  So, since it was #FreedomForGirls day, and we love you for so many reasons, we want to tell you why YOU should love yourself.

  1. Love yourself because no one else is you.
  2. Love yourself because no one else has your rock-star, strong-willed attitude.
  3. Love yourself because wanting to be someone else is miserable and no one wants to spend their life being miserable.
  4. Love yourself because that is the #1 thing you have to do before you can love others, and before others can love you.
  5. Love yourself because life is easier when you work with what was given to you.
  6. Love yourself because when you love yourself, others feel drawn to you and will love you too.
  7. Lastly, love yourself because you have this wonderful life to live and you are beautiful, unique, kind, and smart.

#FreedomForGirls is about you.  And we care about you.  Visit us if you have any questions about your health.  All of our services are 100% no-cost and confidential.

Everyone is always looking for tips to save them money, time, energy, and stress.  So why not be proactive and do just that?  Here are 5 helpful tips that will simplify your life:

  1. Always have a water bottle with you. Staying hydrated is super important!  Not only is it important for your health, but it is also important for your skin’s health.  And, in order to stay hydrated each day, carry your water bottle with you everywhere.  You can’t stay hydrated if you don’t have water with you all the time.
  2. Clean out your closet. You know the feeling of looking at the same clothes at the front of your closet and never liking any of it?  Well clean out your closet then and remove the items that are at the front that you never like enough to wear.  If you clean out your closet, getting ready and picking out your clothes will be much easier (and quicker).
  3. Set a morning routine and stick to it. Any routine is easier to stick to when you do it for a while.  So, get started each morning by doing the same thing.  Get out of bed, take your dog for a walk, pour your coffee, do your hair, do your makeup, and out the door you go.  I understand if that isn’t your routine… customize your routine to fit into your morning, and hit the ground running each day.
  4. Plan your after work/after school routine. Yes, I get it… sometimes spontaneity is fun.  However, plan your night as much as you can beforehand.  Need to grocery shop?  What day of the week will you do that?  Planning ahead of time can save you so much time and stress.
  5. Keep healthy snacks in your bag. Whether it is your work bag or your bookbag, keep healthy snacks available at all times so when you get hungry you won’t spend money on something that your body won’t thank you for.

Everyone wants to experience a simpler life.  Hope these hacks are helpful!  <3
